Well, it would be functionally impossible for the same exact company to sell its assets to itself while at the same time buying those very same assets from itselft the facts. so, obviously, one company (different from the other) bought the stock of another. If the two cusips are the same, then the certs you are referencing are for stock in the same company. That in no way effects the reality that one compan has bought another.
