the competitions lock was bulky you have me confused with the descriptions capttain_marvelin made in an observation in pictures. The fact is the inside unit measures 6 inches high compared to 10" high on SQUM's lock. The competitors lock both inside and outside have uniformity in shape and quality. The competitors’ lock is made out of "all" polished brass inside and out with very rigid (heavy) construction and a deeper polished brass where the smart scan is white plastic on the inside and made of lighter grads of materials. My entryway is of formal design as opposed to the doublewide trailer or back door look that make both lock choices unique and useful to each individual decor.

I'm just calling them as I see them.

Hands down the competitors lock is better made materially and mechanically but it costs a little more too. I've not been one that is concerned with price but there are some who would sacrifice quality for price. I would have to say that SQUM has really proven themselves in this area.
