Painted is usually a small buy AT THE ASK that someone makes near the end of the day to make it appear to be a better day than it really was. There are several reasons why someone would do this. One being that it makes his/her portfolio look better, another is a close AT THE ASK is a definate plus when charting a stock.
Whatever the reason for doing it, they are just fooling themselves and it serves no purpose.
Maybe someone can make it more clear for you.
