Ciklavit is the SCD neutraceutical produced by Neimeth. It is also the product which is supported by the Nigerian SCD Foundation over and above Nicosan currently.

Unfortunately for Neimeth, the Nigerian government does not own the patent for their treatment nor does it stand to make a 7% royalty from all sales, therefore Ciklavit doesn't have a snowball's chance in hell of making any real money. Ciklavit was under development before Xechem ever became involved with the Nigerian government to produce an effective SCD treatment. I am fairly confident that Ciklavit is most likely a valid treatment for SCD although it may not have the exact effect as Nicosan and may or may not have the same efficacy.

I'm sure it's been extremely frustrating to Neimeth to be overshadowed by a johnny-come-lately drug from an American pharmaceutical company. Let's face it, they put 18 years into Ciklavit and in 6 years' time has been eclipsed by a company brought into the country by a group of powerful politicians and businessmen who stand to profit hugely in many ways from the production of Nicosan.

Why didn't the Nigerian government just promote the research and development of Ciklavit instead of starting from scratch with an American partner? It just wouldn't have been nearly as lucrative for anyone who wanted to profit from the mass production of a uniformly consistant treatment for SCD. With Neimeth holding the patent for Ciklavit it just didn't suit the purposes of those in a position to profit.

Face it, the whole Nicosan concept has been orchestrated to make huge profits as well as promote the agenda of the controlling political powers of Nigeria. Although the lion's share of profits will ultimately go to the non-Nigerian investors in Xechem, there is a handful of powerful Nigerians who will make obscene profits from Nicosan. These people are in positions to ensure that Nicosan is distributed far and wide, not only within their own country but pushing along programs that will spread treatment all over the continent.
