The first thing we have to figure out is who do we owe the national debt TO. If we owe it to ourselves, I move we just cancel it and move on. If we owe it to other countries, again, we should just cancel it and thank them for helping us out, as we helped them out so many times in the past.

I guess one more thing needs to be said. Unless we have a constitutional amendment that requires a balanced budget, we aren't going to have a balanced budget. Even if we had such an amendment, the politicians in Foggy Bottom would fill it chuck full of loopholes so they could do the deficit thingy when they feel like it.

If you look at the deficit in perspective, the country owes pretty much, but if you compare it to the way we individual citizens spend what we don't have, it isn't so bad.
