Phoenix, no need to worry. *People* are actually laughing over these suppositions and claims of such knowledge about what it takes to run a mobile space. It isn't so simple when it comes to "tweaking" a few things over the mobile phone.

For one, screen resolutions vary for cell phones. It vary quite a lot more compared to your PC monitors which may have several screen resolutions. For mobile phones, there are just too many different screen sizes/resolutions compared to PC monitors. Here's an example about mobile phone's resolutions:

"If you go to Sun's Web site there are 56 devices that are J2ME compliant," said Rodway, referring to the Micro Edition version of Java that was developed for mobile phones and other low-powered devices. "But there are 24 different screen resolutions. Write once, run anywhere just doesn't happen." A developer who wants to write a game for every device would have to do 24 versions just for the different screen sizes, he noted. "Then there are different sound capabilities, different color depths and so on."

Take a look at this list.

Click on each mobile phone to see the screen resolution size. It varies...a lot! Look here to see the screen resolutions.

And when you're done with that you have to deal with firmware updates, different browser software, the different capabilities, and so on.

You can create a "generic" site that can work across all platforms. Sure. But, as somebody once said, "How useful and cool would that be?"

Not very. You want the cool and useful stuff. You want a site that dazzles and easy to use. Not something that limps along.

As for the pricing? Compare this company pricings for their basic packages to that of Announce's.

Give Wapple a call and compare prices for a change. Call any developers out there, ask for the same setup that Announce Mobile has on pricing.

Oh, and everybody? If you do call these developers, please put down the link, name and phone number so we can double check them ourselves.
