Note the L2 cache size table:

"4" = 512K L2.

Just received an email from Groo @ TheInq.

He confirms the part is 512K L2.

They will be posting a retraction of the earlier story.

He doesn't own this part, so he can't crack off the heat-spreader to confirm a smaller-die Newcastle (vs. a salvaged regular-die 3200+ with "1/2-cache" working, but I doubt this latter possibility very much.)
