hey protein, first off i used those charts because they were handy as they were already talked about 2 weeks ago in the hurricane thread on IHUB, so it was accessible.

Now, you under the incorrect understanding that many individuals are. That most hurricanes form off the coast of Africa.

1. During may, june, july most Hurricanes will form strictly in the caribbean and Gulf of Mexico for various reasons.

2. What you are talking about is the "cape Verde" Season, which is where the hurricanes come off the coast of africa and ride the itcz across the atlantic. So, you are semi right, that they come off the coast of africa, but the Landfalling Huricanes DO NOT form off the coast of africa because the sooner they form, the more of a surface low they have and the more they curve out to sea.

So, the hotter the water is over there, the more hurricanes will hit land, (with all other varibales the same.). This is because they will not form as fast as they cross the atlantic, but as they enter the caribbean and gulf they will "blowup" because of Hot SST.
