I am writing in response to your email, dared April 23, 2007 concerning Scottrade's trading restriction on American Energy Production (AMEP).
Scottrade's Risk Management department regularly reviews stocks for unusual activity and when we feel that there may be unusual activity we reserve the right to temporarily or permanently restrict certain stocks online. it is important to note that these temporary or permanent restrictions only prevent the customer from purchasing the stock online. The stock may still be sold online and can be purchased through a broker at the internet rate.
This review and restriction should not be construed as a reflection on the merits of the security involved or the people effecting transactions in the security.
