A better way to state it is that I believe that chart patterns reveal intentions and motivations of real traders. More than a semantic nit, I try to be careful lest the unwashed think this is all magic and stardust.

It will likely resolve before the day is over. I expect AMD will have a strong close (above $15.30), but this is useless unless you are a intraday trader.

Yes, that was my point, the part after but. I don't pay a whole lot of attention to intraday trends, I only look to see volume at support and resistance points in the context of larger trends. It is easy to miss the forest for the trees because of readily available charting tools, that is the main thing that bites the casual chart observer (and kills daytraders). My preference is to pull back and obverve a variety of factors over a period of days.
