SWISS DISTRIBUTOR PURCHASES ADDITIONAL WATER TREATMENT SYSTEM
Enpar Technologies Inc.'s Swiss distributor, Aqua & Terra, has purchased a specialized system for remediating drinking water sources that are contaminated with nitrate.
Dr. Shelp, president and chief executive officer for Enpar, stated: "We are greatly encouraged by the repeat business from Aqua & Terra, which speaks to the quality and performance of our products. Limited drinking water resources in many areas of the world are often prone to nitrate contamination from agricultural operations. Our leading-edge water treatment system can target specific contaminants such as nitrate."
It is reported that 40 per cent of groundwater in Europe is already seriously polluted with nitrate, In Germany for example, nitrate can be several times higher than the allowable 50-milligram-per-litre limit in areas of intensive animal farming.
"The European market is large and offers tremendous opportunity for Enpar and its distributors," said Dr. Shelp.
Within the human body, nitrates are converted into poisonous nitrites, which increase the risk of cancer and can lead to methemoglobinemia, or blue baby syndrome. Nitrates are also responsible for overfertilization of water streams, lakes and seas, resulting in oxygen-deficient ecosystems.
