I can't figure it out either, defies all logic.

If they were honestly trying to help us out and inform us of something, they would have tried, and upon being harassed, promptly left. Why would they try to help people that obviously despise them?

Only thing that makes sense is they are trying to get in at a good price, or are just mind numbingly stupid.
