That is a marked change in tone from several weeks ago when Hector said that "money is no problem".

There is one important lesson in business. When you dont need money, everyone wants to throw money at you. Banks, investors etc. However when you really need money, no one is willing to give it you. So the best rule for a company is to raise money when you think that you do not need it.

Last year AMD could have gotten money on very favorable terms, by floating new stock to buy ATI. Now that everyone is questioning AMD's basic business model, the company will probably sell itself dirt cheap, and AMD cannot be very selective about the terms.

However I am certain that AMD will raise the needed capital, since it is the only competitor to Intel in a very lucrative market. Most likely the new ownership will put the management on a very tight leash, or will replace it with a new team.
