You design guys always have to jump in.... don't ya. Just when us Process guys are basking in our glory....

You deserve to bask. Companies like Intel and AMD don't sell designs or simulations. They sell products made of silicon and it has to work in the real world. You can't plug a datasheet into a socket and nobody cares if it works in simulation if it doesn't work in silicon. Customers pay for silicon and that's the bottom line.
