re MacWorld Apple TV how-to

"Rip DVDs -- Let’s say you’ve purchased a movie on DVD, and you want to watch it on your Apple TV. You could buy a computer-friendly copy from the iTunes Store—if it’s available, that is. Or you could save some cash and rip that DVD to your computer, and then transfer the video to your Apple TV."

Plus another 1,000 words worth of hoop jumping instructions, and heavens knows how much time and effort. All for what? To prove that yes, you can spend extra dough, waste extra time, etc., but by golly, yes, you can replace the simple act of sticking a DVD into the DVD player and play it, with the joy of an Apple "solution"?

Or you could just take the flippin' DVD, stick it in the DVD player and watch the movie!

If ever there was something that epitomized "make work" and the art of jerry rigging for the sake of nothing more than proving it can be done, the whole game of ripping DVDs to a PC for wireless transmission to another expensive box sure would be a leading candidate.
