My guess is that they didn't want those guys fielding questions and being bothered about the current situation. They don't get paid to deal with the media (MN1) or angry shareholders. Presumably, they get paid for their technical expertise and are strictly support infrastructure.

Who is this Time Being, and why are we always doing things for it?
