joelegs- thanks for your input. Any reduction in share counts by any company is usually something to tell the whole world with a PR as it is always welcomed by the investing public. Just like this company did not to long ago:

It's usually the dilution, either by the company itself or thru debt financing, that they try to hide from investors. You are right also that many people either do not know how or don't even try to read financial statements and sec filings. With the passage of the Sabanes/Oxley act more and more companies have chosen to go dark making it much harder to gather good relevent info.
