Our auto industry got crushed by better-paid and better-treated Japanese and Germans. Pfffttt!

It's management greed that destroyed American industry. What you need to say is, "Our wages were too high for the bosses to scoop their obscene salaries and perks off the top, pay no taxes back in to support the general welfare of their host country and still remain competetive."
