KeithDust2000 -

This sounds just like all the other comments from you about SUN.

Hey, I'm consistant! :)

While Sun is the third biggest server OEM in the world, it wasn't very long ago that they were number 1. In fact, they decline has been very steep, and they are no where near the #2 spot, in revenue or servers shipped.

In revenue terms, we saw this recently:

http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=12897

IBM 31.1%
HPQ 27.7%%
Sun 10.8%
Del 9.5%
Fuj 6.3%

Worldwide sales showed that Sun and Fujitsu-Siemens fell 9.3% and 2.5% respectively while other major vendors gained market share.

Now, by the common meaning, that 9.3% drop (Q3 year over year) is from the total market, meaning that Sun's marketshare was cut virtually in half from 19.1% over the year - leaving them much closer to 4th than 3rd.

However, if Sun does turn its fortunes around, it would be great for AMD and I do hope that happens. My cautious side says that AMD should not depend on that happening, rather they should get whatever tactical advantage they can from the Sun support.

An old farm saying with special meaning here: Make hay when the sun shines.
