UK unemployment fell yet again in August according to today’s official figures. The number of people claiming benefit fell by 6,000, generating an unemployment rate of 3.1%, the lowest since August 1975. Britain’s two-speed economy continues, with manufacturing mired in recession and services and government-related industries maintaining healthy job growth.
