But I think that you may have misunderstood Mr. McEnulty's premise.
He is saying that people need to LEARN personal responsibility.
To excuse their responsibility because they were not wise enough to NOT be persuaded down yet another road of finance that would only worsen their own personal financial condition should not justify an excuse for their own personal ignorance.
Your post clearly states that your bank misled you. That is precisely what Mr. McEnulty appears to be cautioning people against doing, imho.
