I do not know I have done it in the past with a stock that I requested the cert for the shares then while I was waiting for them I sold some and at that time ameritrade sent me the remaining shares from my account. As I understand it the shares are in the account until they actually send them in the mail to you. So when that happen the last time the shares where in my account I traded a few then one day all the shares where gone from the account a week later I received the remaining shares in the mail. That was the only time I have done that. I really do not have extensive experience in trading shares with certs etc… But in this case I am planning to hold my shares for a long time. If you want to flip the stock then do not request them IMO.
