In no way do I even come close to being a scholar, but just wanted to put in my 2 cents worth, I am in now way saying anyone is wrong, right, or indifferent...just a little something to think on. I use the King James, The NV, the Interpreter's, the NRSV, J.F.B......I find God present everywhere, prior to reading God's word I always ask God to give me wisdom to understand what I capable of handling. No translation is absolutely correct --- when God speeks -- no more to be said. One truly knows if God is speaking.
Something some need to think on...What drives a weak or nonbelieving brother or sister away?? Quite often it is the actions of those professing to be Christians. Who are any of us to judge how God chooses to speak to an individual. If a person finds God in any of the above translations...I say WONDERFUL!!! If someone does not seek God because of my attitude, actions etc...Shame on ME!!!
I've been following this subject for sometime, and Think excel does a wonderful job and has a calling which reaches others. However, I have been disturbed by attitudes, actions, etc of others. An outsider looking in, a non-believer looking in, a weak brother/sister looking in -- is this bickering what they want to be a part of??? You say---"You don't understand". OK, maybe I don't, but I am a Christian, I know full well should I die now, I will be with Christ. I also know if I do something to drive someone away from the faith, I will be held accountable.
I did not mean to ramble on, sometimes we think we are right, but, if others are driven away/ disturbed/ turned off, then we are not properly communicating.
