I wrote the following letter to SWA:

Southwest Airlines
Customer Relations
P.O. Box 36647 - 1CR
Dallas, Texas 75235-1647

Dear Southwest Airlines
I’ve used SWA for many years and I have never been disappointed with your service. I travel mostly in the eastern United States but occasionally I need to go to the west coast. The one thing I miss most on SWA on long flights is the lack of an in-flight movie.
Do you have any plans to add the capability of showing movies on any of your new aircraft? I recently saw a news article about a device Alaska Airlines offers. It supposedly is a handheld player and shows first-run movies. Is it possible you could offer anything like this in the future?
Thank you for your continued excellent service.
Sincerely,

Since it had been almost a month I thought they weren't going to answer but today I received a phone call from Southwest. I was on my cell phone on the Washington Beltway in heavy traffic and I missed the lady's name. However, here is the gist of what she said:

They received my letter and appreciate my comments.
They expect to get into IFE and are considering the options. She said they need something that doesn't affect their bottom line too much. She said some of their financial people met in New York a couple of weeks ago to discuss the issue.
I mentioned again having seen on TechTV a handheld device with a decent sized screen. She said, ''Is that the one Alaska Airlines is using?'' I said that it was and she said again that they were looking at all the options and that they were on the same page as me in wanting some type of IFE.
