Not in that exact area, but there is a great Italian resaurant on 2nd in the 70s, I think it is, called Tony's DiNapoli. I had the best talapia there ever. It's family style, very informal. Great food.
Also Lupa, in the Village. It's a Molto Mario restaurant. Fabulous entrees, wine and desserts. And then Pastis in the Meatpacking District off Little 13th or something like that. Great for brunch or dinner. Lots of fun. Big place, great crowd. Bring plastic. It's NYC!
