Tamboran Resources boosts NT gas supply with Arafura deal

Tamboran Resources Ltd CEO Joel Riddle talked with Proactive about the company's newly signed letter of intent (LOI) with Arafura Resources Ltd to supply gas from the Beetaloo Basin. Riddle explained that both companies are based in the Northern Territory, and the agreement supports local strategic projects by providing 25 terajoules (TJs) per day to Arafura's critical minerals project. The agreement aligns with Tamboran’s strategy of prioritising Northern Territory gas use. “We’re a Northern Territory company. We’ve been focused on appraising the Beetaloo Basin now for all 12 years I’ve been in my job,” Riddle said, highlighting the company’s long-term commitment to the region. Riddle also pointed out the environmental edge of Beetaloo Basin gas, which has a CO2 content of about 3%, significantly lower than the 15–20% typically found in other Australian basins. He said supplying this low-carbon gas to the East Coast would help reduce emissions by displacing higher-carbon alternatives. Discussing supply capacity, Riddle compared the Beetaloo to the Marcellus Shale in the US, noting it could provide enough gas to support the East Coast for “hundreds of years”. Tamboran plans to bring 40 TJs per day online in the first half of next year under an existing 15-year agreement with the NT Government. The Arafura deal will add a further 25 TJs daily. Riddle said work is underway with pipeline partner APA to ensure infrastructure capacity. The company aims to finalise a binding gas sales agreement with Arafura soon. Race Oncology launches Phase I RC220 trial in Australia

Race Oncology CEO and MD Daniel Tillett talked with Proactive about the opening of patient enrollment at the first Australian clinical site for the RC220 Phase I solid tumour trial. Tillett confirmed that the trial is now underway, with additional sites expected to follow soon. The focus of this early-stage study is to determine a safe and effective combination dose of RC220 with the chemotherapy drug doxorubicin. According to Tillett, “our drug has the advantage… not only does it improve the anti-cancer treatment, but it protects the heart, at least in animals and cells to date.” He noted the choice of Southside Cancer Centre as the initial site, citing the faster startup process compared to public hospitals. Other sites, including Gosford and Wyong, have also received ethics approval and are expected to join the trial following regulatory clearance. Tillett discussed the use of a Bayesian trial design, which allows quicker progression and minimises patient exposure to suboptimal doses. While this approach can introduce uncertainty in timelines, it is expected to be more beneficial overall for patients and the company. Early preclinical data has shown that RC220 can reduce doxorubicin-related toxicity while enhancing cancer treatment outcomes, a combination Tillett described as unique among current therapies. Beyond the trial, Race Oncology is conducting separate preclinical studies to identify the most effective drug combinations using RC220. North Bay Resources identifies potential of major gold deposit at Fran Project

North Bay Resources CEO Jared Lazerson joined Steve Darling from Proactive to announce the discovery of a significant mass tonnage gold deposit at the Fran Gold Project, following an extensive review of prior exploration work. This includes data from diamond drilling campaigns between 2001 and 2018, as well as geochemical, geophysical, and 3D modeling analyses. Key findings reveal that past drilling—totaling over 18,000 meters—intersected large gold-bearing zones, with notable intercepts of up to 149 meters (489 feet) at 0.95 grams per tonne (g/t) gold. The identified deposit spans over 1,000m x 100m x 300m within a known strike length of 1,700m, indicating an exploration potential of 79.5 million tonnes, with an average grade of 0.8 g/t gold, translating to a potential 2 million ounces. Lazerson stated that there is now sufficient data to proceed with a NI 43-101 Compliant Mineral Resource Estimate. Historically, exploration at Fran focused on high-grade vein targets for underground mining, leaving the bulk tonnage potential largely unexplored. However, North Bay's latest review has shifted its strategy, incorporating both high-grade surface material for processing at its Bishop Gold Mill and ongoing evaluation of the mass tonnage gold deposit for future large-scale mining opportunities. Element 25 delivers positive Tokyo Bay Scoping Study

Element 25 managing director Justin Brown talked with Proactive about the recent completion of the Tokyo Bay HPMSM Facility Scoping Study in partnership with Nissin Chemical Corporation. The company said the results of the scoping study were positive enough to justify advancing the project to the pre-feasibility stage. Brown explained that the Tokyo Bay site offers unique advantages, including a co-located sulfuric acid plant, deepwater port access, and supporting infrastructure critical for high-purity manganese sulfate production. “We took our learnings from the detailed work we’ve done in Louisiana… and converted them to a Japanese setting,” Brown said. He also noted that Japan's regulatory and geopolitical environment makes it an ideal location for refining and supplying the local battery market. Looking ahead, Brown confirmed that Element 25 and Nissin Chemical will conduct deeper engineering and cost analysis under their existing MOU, with a final investment decision targeted for June 2026. The next milestone will be the pre-feasibility study, expected later this year. Brown also discussed how the Tokyo Bay project fits into the company’s broader “design one, build many” strategy, which aims to establish a global network of refineries fed by ethically sourced manganese from Element 25’s Butcherbird mine.
