I have some concerns and questions. 1st, I believe that a naked short does exist and that is why the questions are such:
1. If the new CUSIP shares are to replace the shares in our accounts, what's stopping the brokers from putting IOUs for Espirit in the accounts and still being short, but in this case Espirit?
2. If the Espirit shares do not cover the amount of CHNW shares in accounts, should covering begin of those naked shorted CHNW shares?
3. Has a CUSIP change ever resulted in the price of the replaced shares resulted in increase value prior to the change?
4. Even though cert pulls take a long time to complete, wouldn't that be one of the ways to rectify this problem?
5. Will the master cert list, NOBO list, or OBO list have any bearing on the outcome?
6. Are brokers required to submit to the TA the CHNW shares in order to obtain Espirit shares, or does the TA just issue to brokers the Espirit shares deemed necessary based on the TA books?
My concern is number one as because this will be done electronically, there is nothing to stop the brokers from putting IOUs for Espirit shares in our accounts.
Sorry for all the questions, but with IHUB being down randomly, I thought I would ask early.
Have a nice weekend all.
