Personally, I think letting the boards sink or swim on their own merits is really preferable, and will ultimately result in better quality boards and posts.

Wrong, Iconoclassic...IMO. This became the policy of the powers-that-be on RB and we all know what happened there.

Give the Mod Squad a chance, at least. If they abuse their power, have some confidence in administration to take steps to take care of it as they see fit.
