St George Mining unveils major JORC resource

St George Mining Ltd executive chairman John Prineas talked with Proactive about the company's newly announced maiden JORC resource, which he says could be among the world’s most significant niobium and rare earth deposits. Prineas said the deposit features over 500 intercepts of high-grade mineralisation and boasts a rare combination of high grades and shallow mineralisation starting at surface, supporting an open pit development. “We think, possibly the second highest niobium deposit in terms of grade and, probably one of the highest rare earth deposits,” he told Proactive. He confirmed the company has already seen interest from industry players, with some expressing interest in potential partnerships and even mergers. The resource was released following St George’s acquisition of the project in late February, and the company has committed to a drill program starting in the coming weeks. According to Prineas, this program could potentially double the existing resource. In Brazil, St George has assembled an experienced in-country team and engaged a global EPC contractor to progress mine development. Abacus Global Management CEO on 2024 highlights and 2025 targets

Candel Therapeutics shares positive survival data for investigational immunotherapy in NSCLC

Candel Therapeutics CEO Dr. Paul Peter Tak joined Steve Darling from Proactive to announce final survival data from a Phase 2a clinical trial evaluating the company’s investigational immunotherapy in patients with stage III/IV non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) who had an inadequate response to immune checkpoint inhibitor (ICI) treatment. The study reported a median overall survival (mOS) of 24.5 months in 46 evaluable patients who received two courses of the investigational therapy. In a subset of patients who had progressive disease at baseline despite ICI treatment, mOS was 21.5 months. Historically, similar patients receiving standard-of-care chemotherapy have had mOS between 9.8 and 11.8 months, with published studies rarely exceeding 12 months. With a median follow-up of 32.4 months, the data demonstrated long-term survival benefits, with 37% of patients who had progressive disease despite ICI therapy still alive two years after treatment. Based on these positive results, Candel Therapeutics will continue advancing the development program, including preparations for a potential registrational trial in patients with non-squamous histology NSCLC. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has previously granted Fast Track Designation for the investigational therapy in combination with an antiviral agent and ICI therapy for patients with stage III/IV NSCLC who are resistant to first-line PD-(L)1 inhibitors and do not have activating molecular driver mutations or have progressed on targeted therapy. Brazil Potash’s Autazes Project fully permitted, poised for construction

Brazil Potash CEO Matt Simpson joined Steve Darling from Proactive providing key updates on the company’s Autazes Potash Project in northwest Brazil. The project has successfully completed all necessary permitting milestones—including technical, environmental, indigenous, and public consultations—clearing the way for full-scale construction. Brazil, which currently imports 98% of its potash, remains heavily reliant on foreign supply. The Autazes Project is designed to address this dependency by supplying 2.4 million tonnes annually, equivalent to approximately 17% of the country’s current potash demand, all of which will be sold domestically. Simpson highlighted the project's cost advantages, emphasizing that because production is based in Brazil, the total cost of extraction, processing, and delivery is lower than the transportation cost alone for imported potash. The construction of the Autazes Project will follow a modular approach, with major components pre-assembled offsite—including in Manaus—and then transported via the Madeira River to mitigate potential weather-related risks. This approach ensures greater efficiency, productivity, and quality control throughout the construction phase. Brazil Potash has already secured key commercial agreements to support project financing. The company has signed an offtake agreement with Amaggi, one of Brazil’s largest soybean producers, for 550,000 tonnes over 15 to 17 years and a MOU with Keytrade, a major global agribusiness player, for an additional one million tonnes. These agreements play a pivotal role in ongoing debt financing discussions with banks and export credit agencies, further de-risking the project for potential investors.
