A fair analogy is a farmer's season once the farmer has secured that good bottom land after improving crop cultivation processes - each season there is still risk of a failed crop. As the crop approaches maturity the risk factors diminish but the crop still isn't harvested and the farmer still has no income. No one in the farmers immediate circle expects income but land barons and the existing competition still want to crush him because they are a different type of capitalist with a different set (lack?) of morals, Its a month or two to harvest and the worst risk is behind us.
