To clarify some things...the rules have been changed significantly once since I've been here in the last 14 or so years.
There was supposed to be several steps to the rule change. The rules were changed but unfortunately the additional functionality steps didn't happen.
The biggest complaint on iHub has been about deletions and bias in the way the rules were enforced. The next step in the rule change was supposed to be flagged or flaired posts. The flags would be things like politics, off topic, bickering?...things like that. The Admin, MS and Mod Squad role would've changed to mostly flagging posts and there would be very few deleted posts. Everyone would've been able to toggle their filters to what they wanted to see. If you wanted to see and discuss the politics you felt surrounded the specific company you were discussing - it would be allowed. Those that didn't want to see all of that could just toggle the politics filter off. For the most part, people would be able to post what they wanted and people would be able to read what they wanted. That was the goal.
Unfortunately, that part never materialized. When it became clear after almost a year that it was unlikely to be implemented any time soon, we decided to move back to a version of the previous TOS to try to stop some of the craziness that was occurring. That's where we are now.
