As i read your post it brought to my mind and im thinking this applys to what you are saying. When im giving my 40 minute or so testimony to a group of people at church or where ever about my 25 years of booze and dope and the helter skelter lifestyle that goes with all that....and...my 28 years of being clean and sobor...i make it a point to tell folks that these 28 years of being clean and sobor ill give myself a little pat on the back because i have had to have "self-control" in making the right decisions and choices to stay away from that lifestyle...but....i give the glory to God because it is only by the power of the Holy Spirit living in me that i have been successful...plain and simple! I still often when i talk to God ask Him to never let me forget what and who i use to be and what He saved me from...because...i never want to get the notion that i am self sufficient in any way shape or form!
