Ouch. What happens when the 1.7B runs out and that pesky low demand is still there? See how they throw money at a symptom with no remedy for the cause. Nobody wants to purchase and deal with an EV for the most part.

They just defecated the entire cost of the NB mine onto huge established companies to solve the same short term problems NB has. Pay the bills and keep the lights on because there is no source of income. Not improve anything or forward a project, just keep the lights on and evaporate money like paying rent.

GM/STLA have some diaper rash because EV business units are not doing well, while we are in existential crisis mode. We cannot have any money via EXIM to domestically produce materials THEY DEEM CRITICAL until we jump through more hoops. They barf cash onto rich companies to pay their bills when they get a little irritated by circumstances they created by them and consumers accepting other government money to make EV manufacturing/purchasing more appetizing in light of the fact that the sales figures are not there to ramp up EV manufacturing by their own decision.
