Egyptian fertiliser major to switch to hydrogen amid natural gas shortage

One of Egypt’s largest fertiliser firms will start partially replacing natural gas with hydrogen at its production facilities amid shortages of the fossil gas.

Abu Qir Fertilizers today (June 27) revealed its board unanimously approved the measure after natural gas supply troubles have plagued its operations over the past month.

Earlier this week, the company among other major fertiliser and chemical players had to halt production due to natural gas shortages.
