AMC Starts Talks With Lenders to Cut Debt, Extend Maturities

The discussions come as AMC, the world’s largest movie theater chain, is staring down a debt load of about $4.5 billion of long-term borrowings. As of March 31, it had more than $2.8 billion of maturities due in 2026, according to regulatory filings, including a $1.9 billion term loan and nearly $1 billion of second-lien notes.

March 28 (Reuters) - Shares of AMC Entertainment Holdings Inc (AMC.N), opens new tab jumped as much as 21% on Tuesday, following a report that ecommerce giant Amazon.com Inc (AMZN.O), opens new tab was looking to buy the theater chain.
Amazon founder Jeff Bezos has dispatched his investment advisers and top entertainment chiefs to explore acquisition plans for AMC, entertainment industry news website The Intersect reported, citing sources familiar with the discussions.
