‘By the deed’s of the Law no flesh shall be justified in God’s sight, for by the Law is the knowledge of sin’ -Romans 3:20 God’s moral Law found in the 10 Commandments proves you and I a sinner. You can check yourself against it and it will reveal the truth about yourself as uncomfortable as it may seem. It shows us our sin corporately and individually. Corporately we’re all sinners because of Adam and individually on our own. Jesus elevated the moral Law to the attitudes of our heart saying if you’re even angry with your brother then you’ve already committed murder in your heart. And with each Commandment comes the elevated spirit of the Law. In the end it comes down to any thought word or deed in our lives that falls short of God’s perfect moral Law set in stone unchanging. Have you looked with lust? Then you’re an adulterer. Have you coveted anything of your neighbors? Then you’re a theif. Have you made up your own version of God? Then you’re an Idolator. The list goes on.

In God’s mercy he’s allowed us to even exist in this sin fallen state of being, with the hope that you and I will simply repent from our sins and turn to Him by faith. God could have just stopped with Adam and Eve ending the concept of a human race, but in his mercy we exist. In fact God is so good that immediately after the sins of our first parents God provided the promise of Jesus Christ who would ‘crush the serpent’s head’ for them and us. -Genesis 3:15 At the cross Jesus did just that, he bled and died, suffered the torment of hell with the burden of the corporate and individual sins of the world past present and future laid on his back. He then rose again victorious over death for our resurrection and victory over death. And as the final sacrificial Lamb His blood shed in our stead forgives all our sin. ‘By a single offering he has perfected for all time those who are being sanctified’ -Hebrews 10:14
