I own common stock in a company that has paid me dividends exceeding my original investment. They aren't 'paid off' and I won't be writing them off either.

I truly cannot understand the argument that Treasury should write off the seniors because they have been "repaid".

Equity cannot be repaid by definition. It really isn't that hard to understand.
