1). It is well before Memorial Day and he talking about women on the beach. This hints at someplace tropical or at least sub-tropical which are generally the most expensive places to live especially near the water.
2). He never misleads, cons, and attempts to sell scams on these forums unlike many others I see. This hints he is not nearly as needy for money as your post suggests compared to many others who post here.
3). He is very knowledgeable about investments and very aware of what is going on financially.
4). I spent a good number of years in my life living in coastal New England and coastal Florida. One of my very favorite activities was going to the beach. I noticed many people engaged in a wide variety of different activities (far too many to list-and quite a few that were things I have never done). It never occurred to me to judge them or look down at them by how they were enjoying themselves.
5). I know people make wrong assumptions about me all the time. I have learned to shut my mouth, never persuade them otherwise, and let them think and gossip whatever the hell they want including relatives. It gives my life far less interference.
6). I am not on a beach right now but it sounds like a great idea. I wish I had a mask and snorkel on swimming above a huge crab trying to reach up to me with his claw from some sunken boulders in New England or above a moray eel or barracuda in a reef in Florida while people laugh at how foolish it seems. Great times!!
7). Archeologists, among others, use metal detectors.
8). I don't know Zorax from a hole in the wall. But the above suggests to me the strong possibility you may be way off on your assumptions on how he is living and what kind of person he is. I don't think his ability is one to underestimate. I'm left wondering why someone as destitute as you describe is not pushing scams for a few extra bucks?
