burrows-wheeler job/task/specs/apis could be applied to many different tasks/job/industries?

does msft sell such as a one and done or would they more likely take a cut/percentage/subscription fee/part of the profit ? who keeps track? archivable markup might be very important along with discoverability at least in the fabric supported?
