I use E-Trade and Fidelity Investments as my two brokers, and neither one would every permit shorting of a penny stock like SPZI. They have a $5 per share minimum threshold for shorting, and require a big big margin/backup. I've never shorted any stock ... for me, too dangerous and it's just not my style.
Did you ever contact your broker(s) to see if SPZI is shortable? (of course not, because you know the answer in advance, and it would negate one of your repetitive, tiresome, and false hooks).
