They can take this down all they want but they need to buy back shares, the only thing standing in their way of achieving their goal is us and our emotions, they will take it down, allow it to run up, take it back down and either take it to new lows or keep it moving in a sideways position. The reason they are doing this is that they are delaying while playing on our emotions, they hope to outlast retail investors by playing on your emotions and causing you to sell out of boredom or sheer frustration.
