During the late 2023 and early 2024 seasons, Seafarer has made significant progress on the Juno Beach Wreck, now called the Juno Beach Archeological Site (JBAS). In addition to receiving one of only two programmatic agreement permits issued for shipwreck exploration by the United States by the US Army Corp of Engineers, one of the more significant artifacts rescued was a 1 Reale Silver Carlos and Joanna coin from the Mexico City Mint. This coin bears distinctive assayer's marks, placing it firmly as a late series Carlos and Joanna coin minted between 1554 and 1572.

While damaged from being on the ocean floor for nearly 500 years, the coin was rescued, carefully conserved, and is now part of the curated Seafarer collection along with over 950 other period artifacts from the JBAS. The coin aligns with the current site context and is similar to coins identified in the Florida Master Site File as documented by the State Archaeologist at the time, the late Roger Smith.
