Providing liquidity, when retail isn’t enough, is not owning the shares and buying them and not owning the shares and selling them. Naked means buying and selling something that does not exist.
Market makers say they determine the value of any equity by controlling supply and demand. A perfect example of this is spot gold vs. GLD an etf. This shows that retail is catching on.
