The greatest - Benny Anderson and Bjourn Ulvaeus (50% of ABBA) wrote the entire thing - you can hear all their classic influences in it from Benny's writing genius (Mozart, Bach to Swedish folk influence to use of Indian sitars and more- his incredible use of every cutting edge Synth of the time and then Bjourn's genius lyrics) the great frozen north Nordic music machines - each worth easily $200 million plus and then of course beautiful Agnetha and Frida....AND they used their long, long long time "5th member of ABBA" their recording engineer genius Michael Tretow.....he's a bonafide genius who "Invented the ABBA sound" by listening to records like The Beach Boys and Phil Spector from half a world away and pretty much custom built the ABBA studios to being state of the art - created his own multi tape machine synced multi-tracking and use of doubling and tripling or more the same re-recorded tracks over and over and same for "the girls voices" via vocal doubling-tripling layers w/ slight de-tunes by hand....thus creating just a monster sound wall....pure brilliance.....

BUT CHESS - CHESS was a long long time dream of Benny and Bjourn to "branch out" and do a "stage musical of some kind" - and they hit it out of the freaking park massive success with it that played all over the world in not only the UK but Broadway to Australia and everywhere in between.

It's for you Dely boy - all your bad boy .....naughty boy fantasies are in it !! I lived in Thailand for about 1 yr as I made my first escape across the Thai border (under live gun fire !!) swimming a river while clinging to my brother's back - and made it to my first refugee camp there....it was a REAL shit hole but I was free....we actually slept on our "plot of dirt" next to the stinking stinking freaking open pit "latrine" but we had food finally and medical and weren't starving to death any longer....paradise....it's all relative....
