Yes, and many once popular places in other areas are struggling, down-sizing, or definitely closing.

Just Google search for:
"restaurant chains closing in 2024"

As an example search return:
https://www.eatthis.com/restaurant-chains-struggling-2024/

Applebee's is #5 on the list. It isn't out of business but has closed many restaurants. One interesting thing about it, though, is this bit:

To promote the chain's growth, Dine Brands announced plans to open dual-branded restaurants with IHOP. The company currently operates eight of these prototypes internationally. John Peyton, the company's CEO, said these restaurants make twice as much money as standalone Applebee's and IHOP restaurants.

Although Nixon is teeny-tiny by comparison, he's already 'dual-branded' one Kalaka Mexican Kitchen and Illegal Burger (in Evergreen), having them side-by-side.

Too bad he hasn't found a private investor to help move him forward without diluting his shares (via convertible notes) and raping the retail investors who buy the shares from them.

[Side note: Nixon gets some of the blame for this by issuing the convertible notes in the first place. But at least a couple of the scammers have been caught and jailed ... not that that helps retail share holders.]
