Some more red flags, concerning The Golden Rail Pub in New Brunswick (a dive bar near Rutgers)

This is an old establishment, been around a long time.

It finally shut down about two years ago, and in late 2022 our John K. Park bought the place.

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ – The Golden Rail, a popular hangout where generations of Rutgers students knocked back dollar drafts and partied the night away, is reopening.

The pub at 66 Easton Ave. will likely begin with a soft opening in early September with some family, friends and potential investors, said new owner John Park.

Park, a New Brunswick native, hopes a full reopening will follow soon after.

Two things I noticed:

BAD WEBSITE LINK: Golden Rail Pub's displayed website link is: www.goldenrailpub.com. If you click on this link, you are re-directed to https://www.asianbistropa.com/, which a little research shows is/was the website of another of Park's establishments. HOWEVER: The website that comes up is about neither establishment, but is a shameless online gambling site (in a foreign language I do not recognize).

Real intelligent website design and maintenance there, John K!

INFLATION OF CREDIT CARD TRANSACTIONS:

If you look at Google reviews for the Golden Rail Pub, they go back quite some time (10 years or more). However, in the few reviews since Park bought the place in late 2022, there are warnings NOT to use credit cards, since the establishment mysteriously seems to inflate the bill. No such reviews existed in the pre-Park google reviews ... it seemed like a seedy, but generally nice, place.

Don't buy anything from here using debit card they will try to swipe more then the service they provide . They swiped extra $200 Dollars and which was unauthorized!🤮

PLEASE IF GOING HERE BRING CASH! THEY ADD ON THEIR OWN TIPS ON CARD PURCHASES. ONE OF MY BILLS FOR THIS WEEKND WAS 6$ I TIPPED IN CASH. LOOKED AT MY BANK STATEMENT TODAY AND WAS CHARGED 10$ FOR THAT BILL!
