They didn’t understand the cross yet so they were disturbed about it. Especially Peter when he tried to rebuke Jesus for telling about his death and resurrection, Jesus rebuked Peter saying ‘Get behind me Satan!’ You do not have in mind the concerns of God, but merely human concerns.” (Mark 8:33) Then after Jesus was raised he explained things more clearly to the disciples and they preached the gospel fearlessly and changed the world.
