Dr. Theresa Heah, an accomplished leader in the biotech industry, has over two decades of global experience in spearheading the development and commercialization of innovative therapies.

Theresa is the CEO and Board member of Paratus Sciences.

Most recently, she was an advisor to several venture capital firms, gene therapy and ophthalmology companies.

Previously, she served as CEO, President, and Board Member at Intergalactic Therapeutics.

Prior to Intergalactic, she served as President and Chief Medical Officer at Kriya Therapeutics, where she launched the ophthalmology division, Kriya Ophthalmology, and was responsible for building its AAV gene therapy portfolio strategy and supporting the company’s Series C financing. Prior to joining Kriya, Theresa served as Executive Vice President of Operations and Chief Medical Officer at AsclepiX Therapeutics, where she led the company’s Series A financing and advancement of its pipeline products into the clinic. She also previously served as Chief Medical Officer at Applied Genetic Technologies Corporation (AGTC), working to develop gene therapies in ophthalmology and rare diseases. In addition, she has held several leadership positions with increasing responsibility in early-stage private companies (Fovea Pharmaceuticals) and publicly traded companies (Aerie Pharmaceuticals, Allergan, Bayer Healthcare, Sanofi).

Under Theresa’s leadership, she led global ophthalmic innovation with multiple successful regulatory submissions in U.S. (7 INDs, 4 NDAs: Ozurdex®, EYLEA®, Rhopressa® & Rocklatan®), Europe (2 MAAs) and Japan (1 CTN). While at Bayer, she launched EYLEA® successfully into a blockbuster drug. Theresa has been instrumental with early-stage venture capital fundraising activities, M&A deals and accelerate the value creation through the addition of innovative early, mid, and late-stage pipeline candidates.

Additionally, her professional affiliations and relationships in the eye care community are extensive. She earned her medical degree from Guy’s Kings and St. Thomas’ School of Medicine, King’s College, University of London, and her Executive Master’s in Business Administration from the European School of Management & Technology (ESMT), Berlin.
