Truly, there is a special place in hell for these people. We can only hope this latest decision by Haaland to double down on epic failure one more time will attract even less interest than last year’s attempted lease sale did.

The November elections cannot arrive soon enough.

Thursday's Energy Absurdity: Biden's DOI Doubles Down on Epic Fail, Again

If at first you get humiliated, then just double down, double down, and double down on failure. That truly appears to be the driving philosophy behind the Biden Green New Deal energy plans.

It really shouldn’t surprise anyone given that doubling- and tripling-down on failed policies is a tenet of socialist/Marxist dogma. After all, the entire climate alarm/energy transition movement is really a proxy for global socialism at its core. You all know that’s true. But it certainly is wasteful and tiresome, nonetheless.

The latest example of this truth about the Biden administration’s true underpinnings came out of the Department of Interior Wednesday, which announced that it would hold a second lease sale for offshore wind projects in the Gulf of Mexico.

You cannot make this stuff up. When Interior - led by radical leftist Deb Haaland - offered three leases for sale last summer, the offering was met with “lackluster” interest, as Reuters diplomatically puts it. That’s really a hilarious understatement given that 2 of the leases, both off the coast of Texas, received ZERO bids, while the lone lease area offshore Louisiana attracted a puny bid of $5.6 million, which barely paid the costs of holding the sale in the first place.

In DOI’s release, Haaland is quoted as saying, “Today’s announcement is another step forward in the Biden-Harris administration’s pursuit of building a clean energy future and permitting 30 gigawatts of offshore wind energy capacity by 2030. We are taking action to jumpstart America’s offshore wind industry and using American innovation to deliver reliable, affordable power to homes and businesses, while also addressing the climate crisis."

Of course, everyone knows that offshore wind is neither “reliable” nor “affordable,” as Haaland falsely claims. The experience thus far in the Northeast development projects demonstrates clearly that it is not only among the most costly and least reliable forms of power generation known to mankind, but also among the most dangerous to animal life, as evidenced by the more than 70 dead whales that have washed up on beaches in the region since development began.

The danger to wildlife in the Gulf of Mexico is not to whales - which are rarely seen in the Gulf’s shallow waters - but to millions of migratory birds. DOI appears to intentionally be targeting these vast wind industrial developments with their 700’ to 1100’ tall towers, to be sited smack in the middle of the well-known corridors of the Gulf through billions of birds, made up of hundreds of species, fly every year in their seasonal migrations.

The map at the top of this piece is taken from a presentation delivered recently to DOI officials by Randy Wilson, an expert with the US Fish & Wildlife Service. It depicts the various migratory pathways used by these bird species, many of which are listed as threatened or endangered. The slide below shows USFW’s estimate that as many as 2.3 BILLION birds traverse the Gulf of Mexico each year in their annual migrations.

Haaland knows all of this and knows that the building of hundreds of enormous wind towers as tall as a New York City skyscraper with blades as long as two football fields will inevitably become a massive killing field.

Yet, here she goes again, pursuing her Marxist dreams.

Truly, there is a special place in hell for these people. We can only hope this latest decision by Haaland to double down on epic failure one more time will attract even less interest than last year’s attempted lease sale did.

The November elections cannot arrive soon enough.

That is all.
