The simple fact of the matter is this government has or has had different priorities: Ukraine, financially supporting a constant inflow of immigrants, and fudging budget numbers to avoid a government shutdown are among the most visible. You'll notice each of these requires massive funding. Like it or not the GSEs are the piggy bank helping to fund all of this nonsense. Housing is not a priority and the lip service Biden paid during the state of the union speech totally side-steps the real housing problem.
